You’re Not Stuck—You’re Under-Activated: What Happens When Women Step Into the Purpose God Placed Inside Them
March 28, 2026
Mayor Derrick R. Wood
There’s a moment in every room where you can feel the shift.
Not because the program changes.
Not because someone raises their voice.
But because something internal… breaks.
That’s what happened at the Inspired Women Conference in Ghana.
This wasn’t just a gathering.
It was a release.
As I stood before a room filled with women—leaders, mothers, visionaries, and builders—I saw something that looked familiar, no matter where you are in the world.
People searching.
Searching for clarity.
Searching for direction.
Searching for confirmation that what they feel inside of them… is real.
And the message I came to share met that moment directly:
You are not stuck. You are under-activated.
Too many people are waiting.
Waiting for the right time.
Waiting for the right opportunity.
Waiting for someone else to recognize what’s inside of them.
But what I’ve learned—and what I witnessed again in Ghana—is this:
Leadership doesn’t begin when someone gives you a position.
Leadership begins when you recognize what God has already placed inside of you.
Every woman in that room carried something.
Not just talent.
Not just ambition.
But a solution.
A God-given assignment tied to people, families, and communities that need what they have.
Because when purpose is ignored, impact is delayed.
A child goes without guidance.
A family lacks direction.
A business never gets built.
A voice never speaks.
And that’s the real cost of hesitation.
But something shifted.
You could feel it.
Not just in the applause, but in the posture.
Not just in the response, but in the reflection.
Women began to realize:
That’s when inspiration turned into activation.
And here’s what makes that moment bigger than one room… or one country:
This isn’t just about Ghana.
When women step into purpose, everything changes.
Families change.
Communities change.
And ultimately, nations change.
I was honored to be recognized at the conference, but the real reward wasn’t the recognition.
It was witnessing women reconnect with who they were created to be.
That’s the work.
And that work doesn’t end when the event is over.
If you’ve ever felt like there’s more inside of you…
There is.
The question is not whether you’re capable.
The question is whether you’re willing to act on what you already know.
You don’t need permission to lead.
You need courage to obey.
Stay Connected
If this message resonates with you, share it with someone who needs it and stay connected as we continue building leaders and transforming communities.
Because when people step into purpose…
they don’t just change their lives—
They help build the world around them.
